Kihoku Logo

Contest Submission, 2009

Logo and patterns for a Japanese frozen fish company preparing to market its products in the US. I hand drew some strong, inky type for this logo and created vector graphics based on the geological location of the company, which resides in a mountainous fishing village of the same name. A black and white identity system was meant to reference Japanese print-making and calligraphy, while providing a graphic landscape in which full color product photography would contrast strongly. I've also included a selection of process sketches here.
